Chapter 2
The Murder
On the morning of December 26, 1996, Patsy Ramsey called the police after finding a 3-page ransom note demanding $118,000 for her daughter's safe return. The girl's body, however, was discovered in the basement later that afternoon. JonBenét’s skull had been fractured, she had been sexually assaulted, and she was strangled with a garrote made from one of Patsy’s paintbrushes. According to the coroner’s report, JonBenét’s official cause of death was asphyxia by strangulation associated with craniocerebral trauma and her death was classified as a homicide.
People at the house at the moment John Ramsey Patsy Ramsey and Burke Ramsey. Though JonBenet Ramsey was found in less than 8 hours later by Her father John Ramsey. What's even stranger though that her body was found inside Ramsey's home. In the basement, she was found with duct tape over her mouth and a cord around her neck. Why did they search the house because there was no reason to believe in the Ransom note that JonBenet Ramsey was in the house. The autopsy found that JonBenet tied up as pixelation caused by strangling a paintbrush from Patsy's craft box was used to tighten the rope which killed JonBenet. There was DNA Found in German pajamas and underwear both belonging to a single unidentified man. The DNA was tested with 1.5 million DNA samples which did not match any of them. There were two sets of an identified footprints at the scene of the crime. However, since 2006, the rope has never been tested. But if someone broke into the house they did very cleverly because there were no footsteps outside in the snow and no sign of forced entry.
The Ransom note started with:
‘Mr. Ramsay listen carefully we are a group of individuals that represent a small foreign faction. With respect to your business but not the country that it serves.’ Here's another thing two men are watching over your daughter do not particularly like you so I advise you not to provoke them. Speaking to anyone about your situation such as police and FBI will resort with your daughter's beheading, Can try to deceive us but be warned that we are familiar with the law, enforcement, countermeasures, and tactics. You stand a 99% chance of us killing your daughter If you try to outsmart us. Follow our instructions in your stand at 100% chance of getting her back .’
The letter was signed S.B.T.C initials that still stand a mystery. Another curious fact is that the sum of $118,000 is close to the amount that John Ramsay got a bonus that year. More facts about the Ransom note is that the Ransom note was written with pen and paper inside the house. Although this is suspicious this also bought a lot of integrity in the facts that the note might be a hoax. That means whoever murdered JonBenet broke into the house wrote the note inside for some reason then killed JonBenet. And all this was happening when all the Ramseys were in the house! The analysis of the notepad used to suggest that the murderer did a practice note, also part of the practice note was found. The case of this horror still is unsolved after 20 years of working. Among law enforcement, the media and the public, theories abounded as to who the killer or killers were, with suspects ranging from JonBenet’s parents to a former substitute teacher living in Thailand. Investigators formed an expert prosecution task force, followed thousands of tips and spent millions of dollars trying to charge and prosecute a suspect. The crime spurred books, TV shows and movies, including several this last fall. This case is still a mystery because of the DNA results showing that what people thought in the beginning to be the killer was the maker of the clothing.
